Delivery & Returns

At Stepping Out  we operate a fair and open policy on delivery charges to ensure our customers get the very best deal.

We are committed to offering you the best service and work hard to ensure we do not uneccessarily delay any orders - we strive to process all orders on the day of receipt (or next working day if placed outside of working hours) and to despatch within 2 hours of processing (stocks permitting / within working hours).  We aim to keep you informed at all stages on the progress of your order, you will be emailed with details of despatch, and if there are any delays with your order we will contact you if possible by phone, and if not, by email. As our office hours do not include weekends (Saturday & Sunday), any orders placed during these times will be handled and despatched first thing on the following Monday.

We hope that our delivery charge system offers choice and value without being too complicated.  Please note that we perform a delivery dispatch on weekdays only at 2-3pm, so orders placed from 3.00pm Friday, Saturday or Sunday will be dispatched with the next Monday pick-up.

Free economy delivery is only available on orders of a final value of £10.00 or greater, for orders of a value less than £10.00 a delivery charge of £2.50 will apply - no additional charges apply to orders of less than £10.00 where priority or express delivery is chosen.

Under certain circumstances (such as very heavy, or extremely valuable items) we may elect to upgrade your delivery - there will be no additional charge to you for this upgrade.  

Express Next-Working-Day delivery is available as standard Monday to Friday and will reach you on the next working day (Friday orders will be delivered on Monday). As we are not open for business on Saturdays or Sundays, any orders placed for Next-Day delivery over the weekend will be dispatched on Monday to arrive Tuesday. Although Express delivery is available to the majority of UK addresses it may take a day (or even 2 depending upon remoteness) longer to addresses in Northern Ireland, Highland and Islands Scotland and the Channel Islands.

Saturday Next-Day delivery is also available, but due to the charge made by the couriers is rather expensive. This option specifically refers to an order placed on a Friday that needs to be there the day after. 

*Priority and Express delivery can be subject to unexpected delays which may prevent us from meeting the target dates for delivery.  Where this does occur we pledge to contact you (by phone if possible) to advise you of the delay, and the expected date of arrival of your order.  We will refund our delivery charge as appropriate, and of course, if you are not happy with the newly proposed schedule we will refund you in full. 

We have now implemented a set rate charge for deliveries to the Republic of Ireland - deliveries will take 2-5 days from the date of despatch. Deliveries to Dublin will generally be faster, and deliveries to more remote or western parts of Ireland will generally be slower.

We have now set up delivery options for certain countries, including the United States, Canada, Australia and Japan, please enter your address on the order page to see the exact rates. If we have not set a rate for your country then please email or phone us to place an order - please detail what you want to order and we will offer you a price based upon the lowest available delivery cost we can find. Please note that price will vary based on geographical location and the weight of the order.  We will provide you with a code so that you may order automatically though the website. 

Deliveries will vary in the length of time to your door based upon the specific destination - for Europe delivery times are generally in the range of 3 to 7 days, but can take as long as 14 days to some locations - for worldwide deliveries a timescale of 7 to 21 days (and occasionally longer) is to be expected.

Returns & Exchanges
Stepping Out will accept Returns requests for items within 30 days of their dispatch date, after which we will no longer accept the request.

If you wish to return an item that has been purchased from us, please contacts us via the Returns form on the site, via e-mail at, or by phone at 01284 763150. Please provide us the reason for the return (whether it is a product defect, for example) and send the item back to us with the packaging and invoice (if available) to the return address detailed below. Once the item/s have been received by us, we will refund the amount in full for the items that have been returned.

If you wish to exchange an item for another, such as swapping out one size of an item for the next size up/down, please contact us via e-mail or phone as detailed above in order for us to organise your exchange. In the case where the requested item for exchange is not in stock, there may be a delay before the exchange can be completed.

Where an item is sent back for an exchange, and the reason for this exchange is not our fault, then we may apply a delivery charge to provide you with the additional goods - this charge will be based upon the cost of postage and packaging (but will not exceed the £8.00 we charge for courier service).  If an item requires exchange and the reason for this exchange is our fault and has been agreed to be our fault then we can either provide you with a return label for the postage of the product - or will credit / deduct (as relevant) the appropriate amount for postage from your charge.
